Observations on How Students Approach E-Mathematics Courses

Abstract

As a part-time mathematics faculty member, I have had many opportunities to work with a
variety of students using various online mathematics platforms. I have made some observations about how
students approach e-mathematics courses. Here, I report on my experiences of how students,
developmental mathematics students in particular, approach e-mathematics courses, point to possible
reasons students do not fare as well as we would like in these courses, and discuss approaches I and
colleagues have used to better support students when using e-resources.
